Mental health is one of the important aspects of our health that deals with thinking, feeling, attention, memory, forgetfulness, emotion, motivation etc. It is the software system of human beings where all information gets processed before we take any form of action. For example- we feel hungry before we eat, we feel sleepy before we actually sleep. If all the systems of mental health are functioning better, then we can say that we can identify ourselves as mentally healthy person and are in a state of overall wellbeing.
Next to this is mental imbalance where we are neither ill nor healthy. There is a problem with our feeling level. We are not able to feel good about ourselves. There may be a problem at attention and concentration level and daily life of individuals may be disturbed. The person is in a state of confusion. This is a very crucial stage and if intervened properly then we can prevent the person to move towards mental illness. But it is very difficult to diagnose the imbalanced state for the family members as well as the person.
At this stage the daily schedule is the indicator through which one can identify the imbalanced state and take help of a professional. The last stage is mental illness where the behavior, feelings and thoughts are at disorder state. There are problems in higher order mental functioning specifically in thought, perception, memory. Daily schedule is completely ruptured and social functioning is impaired. Even at this stage some family members neglect the problem and don’t take treatment. And due to ignorance all these things happen. At every stage treatment is possible. Problem is real in our life but so is the solution. It depends where we focus, it becomes our priority.
